Research and development (R&D) is a very important part of what we do here at Greentec. It’s critical we continue to innovate and work towards bettering the way we recycle electronics and securely dispose of data to ensure our processes are as thorough and safe as possible.
Typically companies of our size would employ an in-house team, but we decided to take a different approach. We are proud members of our community and value the resources we have available to us because of where we have chosen to locate ourselves. We feel lucky to have incredible educational institutions in our backyard, and it’s because of this we have chosen to concentrate our R&D efforts at Conestoga College with the smart and capable students in the Mechanical Systems Engineering Program.
We are proud sponsors of this program, which in turn allows us to work with students to develop new technology to help improve ewaste recycling processes. You may ask, why Conestoga? For us it was a simple choice. The school is a member of Polytechnics Canada, an institution committed to delivering education and applied research to benefit communities, industries and Canada’s economy.
Helping to support a dedicated research chair at Conestoga along with Ontario Centres of Excellence means students can continue the important work they are doing to drive research and innovation in Advanced Recycling Technologies for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. We’re extremely proud of this partnership and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
We have some incredibly exciting projects on the go right now and will share more as they become realities. In the meantime, we will leave you with a video that was produced to better illustrate the work that is being done at the College and how we’re involved:
